Ghaly ready to play as goalkeeper for Egypt
Published in Daily News Egypt on 03 - 01 - 2011

CAIRO: Ahly captain Hossam Ghaly says he is ready to fill in whatever position manager Hassan Shehata asks him to play in, even if he was used as a goalkeeper.
The 28-year-old excelled as a sweeper for Ahly during the past few weeks, which saw the Egyptian champions switch back to their traditional 3-5-2 formation under interim coach Zizo.
He was consequently named in Egypt's squad for the friendly Nile Basin tournament on home soil as he became the number one candidate to play as a sweeper for Shehata's team.
“Sweeper or midfielder, there is no problem. I am under the manager's command even if he wants to play as a goalkeeper,” Ghaly told FilGoal.com.
“In case we play with a 3-5-2 formation, I could be the Egypt sweeper and if the manager decided to switch to 4-4-2, my place is in midfield.
“Personally, I prefer being in midfield because it takes me closer to the box and thus I have a better option to attack.
“However, I am a professional and I am ready to do whatever the manager wants from me.”
Egypt will play against Tanzania on January 5, before entertaining Uganda and Burundi in this week's regional competition.
