Ahly complete Geddo deal
Published in Daily News Egypt on 27 - 06 - 2010

CAIRO: Ahly have completed the signing of Ittihad forward Mohamed Nagi 'Geddo' on Saturday for their first major acquisition in the close season.
"Everything is finalized now. The contract has been signed," Ittihad board member Sherif Al-Helw told FilGoal.com.
"Geddo is now an official Ahly player. Ittihad received the first installment of the deal."
Ahly signed Geddo for LE 7 million plus right-back Ahmed Ali and striker Hani Al-Egeizi, who could not establish themselves at the Egyptian champions.
Neither Ittihad nor Ahly, who remained silent until wrapping up the deal, disclosed the length of the contract.
However, FilGoal.com learned that Geddo has penned a four-year deal with the Cairo giants.
The Egypt forward burst onto the scene during January's African Cup of Nations finals in Angola.
He attracted a host of suitors after finishing as the top scorer with five goals despite not starting any game to help the Pharaohs win a third consecutive Nations Cup title.
Geddo is Ahly's fourth signing in the summer after former Zamalek forward Gamal Hamza, Ghazl Mahalla playmaker Abdul-Hamid Shabana and Mansoura keeper Mahmoud Aboul-Saoud.
They are reportedly close to signing Iraqi striker Mostafa Karim to make up for the absence of Egypt frontman Emad Meteb, who is on the verge of joining Belgian side Standard Liege.
Unclear Stance
The stance of Ahly's arch-rivals Zamalek, who claimed that Geddo signed a contract with them in January, remains unclear yet.
The Cairo side said they would 'pursue their rights' in the transfer saga before launching a scathing attack on the 25-year-old.
"We will not be honored if a player such as Geddo played for us after deceiving two clubs," the club's board member and former playmaker Hazem Emam said recently.
"The player admitted that he signed for Zamalek and Ittihad at the same time but he was not subjected to any sanctions."
However, the White Knights have yet to take any legal actions against Geddo or Ittihad.
The Egyptian FA said they did not receive any documents from Zamalek proving that Geddo signed a deal to join them.
