Zamalek-target Geddo set for Ahly move
Published in Daily News Egypt on 21 - 06 - 2010

CAIRO: Ittihad say Mohamed Nagi 'Geddo' is set to join Ahly on a part-exchange deal in the immediate future; a move that may well prompt Zamalek to take legal actions against the Egypt hot-shot.
"We have worked out the details of the deal and decided which players from Ahly will be involved in it," Ittihad chairman Mohamed Moselhi told FilGoal.com.
"We agreed that four Ahly players will move to Ittihad. We will also be paid LE 7 million in return for Geddo's services.
"The deal should go through on Monday."
Ahly's out-of-favor quartet Ramzi Saleh, Ateya Al-Belkasi, Ahmed Ali and Hani Al-Egeizi will join Ittihad pursuant to both clubs' agreement.
Ittihad announced on Sunday that Ahly and Scottish giants Celtic had tabled offers for Geddo. The coastal club eventually opted to accept the Egyptian champions' bid.
Zamalek are widely expected to call on the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to prevent their arch-rivals Ahly from completing the deal.
A while back, Geddo, the Nations Cup's top scorer, had penned a pre-contract with Zamalek and extended his deal with Ittihad shortly afterwards to embroil in controversy.
The White Knights filed a complaint to the EFA but the governing body said the 25-year-old should remain an Ittihad player.
With Geddo poised to join Ahly, Zamalek are more likely to re-open the case and cause Geddo to be suspended for signing for two clubs at the same time.
Cairo duo Ahly and Zamalek have always been trying to outbid each other in order to snap up high-profile players.
Geddo said more than once that he would only leave Ittihad to realize his long-held dream to play European football.
He also denied being targeted by Ahly when the Red Devils' interest in him was first reported.
Among other suitors, Geddo drew the attention of Premiership outfit Fulham and French team Olympique Lyon.
He also received several bids from Gulf sides, including Saudi side Faisli, but turned them all down.
