On Saturday, April 21, at the Haitian Police Academy, in Freres, Port-au-Prince, a ceremony was organized to present United Nations medals to seven peacekeepers from Egypt serving in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH). The ceremony took place in the presence of MINUSTAH's civilian chief of staff, Peter Schmitz, the Commissioner of the United Nations Police (UNPOL) in Haiti, Mamadou Mountaga Diallo, and the military Force Commander, General Carlos Alberto Dos Santos Cruz. Schmitz saluted their remarkable work, professionalism, sense of duty and great contribution to help the Haitian Government rebuild viable and sound institutions which may ensure long-term development in the country. The Egyptian "blue-helmets" worked as trainers and technical advisers in police stations in the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince./p
