Courtesy of Reporters Sans FrontieresEgyptian representatives greeting visitors at the yearly World Tourism Fair in Paris received a surprise visit by French bloggers and members of press freedom group Reporters Without Borders (RSF), who launched a demonstration at the Egyptian booth denouncing the imprisonment of Egyptian blogger Kareem Amer. Wearing T-shirts saying 'Egypt-Internet Enemy' the protestors condemned the four-year prison sentence meted out to Amer last month for 'defaming Islam and President Mubarak' on his Internet blog. "We want to encourage the French blogosphere, which is one of the most dynamic in the world, to actively support this young man," one demonstrator said. "We could all be in his place if we lived in Egypt." The RSF called Amer's sentence a 'threatening message to the entire Egyptian blogosphere which has emerged in recent years as an effective bulwark against the government's authoritarian tendencies'./p
