Intel celebrates winners of creativity competition Intel Corporation held a special event last week at El Sawy Culture Wheel to celebrate the winners of their "Get Inspired with Intel Core 2 Duo Creativity Competition. The competition began in April of this year, in collaboration with several local magazines including Loghat Al-Asr, Teen Stuff, Alam Al Computer, Souk Al Asr, Kelmetna and Al-Shabab. Participants were asked to send in - either by email or on a CD - creative and innovative pieces of art they created on the computer. Participants of diverse ages sent in works in various mediums like still graphics, images, moving graphics, photographic pieces, and artistic website designs. Twenty finalists were selected for exhibit at El Sawy by a panel of judges that included Nour-Eldin Zaki, Intel's Country Marketing Manager for Egypt, Levant and North Africa, Engineer Alaa S. Al-Agamawi, Chairman of the board of e-Learning & Business Solutions Union eLABS, Gamila Zaki, one of Egypt's leading female artists, and Christopher Larter an artist from the UK. The judges then selected nine grand prize winners, who received prizes that included cameras, MP3 players and Caira laptops based on CoreT2 Duo technology. The winners included Mohamed Ali, Ashraf Magdi El Malek, Ziad Awadallah, Ayman Mohamed Hussein, Islam Samir, Sherif Ahmed, Mariam Maged, Sara Daw, and Ahmed Mohamed Rabea. Two participants, Sherif Ahmed and Mohamed El Kaw, also received special recognition and prizes for their work. Participants were delighted to have their artwork on display at El Sawy for 10 days, while grand prize winners were happy with their brand new laptops with Core 2 Duo processors. "Core 2 Duo processors are 40 percent faster and 40 percent more energy efficient, and are extremely useful with fast moving and heavy images such as those sent in by participants, said Khaled Elamrawi, Intel Country Manager for Egypt, Levant and North Africa. "Intel wanted to provide these young artists with Core 2 Duo laptops to help create their pieces. Competitions such as this one go hand in hand with Intel's World Ahead Program. Their mission through this program is to provide greater accessibility to people all around the world by providing them with PCs in addition to increasing connectivity, and providing education through programs, resources, and technology. The exhibition will continue for 10 days at El Sawy Cultural Wheel, and is open to the public for anyone who is interested in seeing the artistic pieces on display. "Intel looks forward to having more of these types of competitions to create an outlet for innovation, creativity, and talent, said Elamrawi. "We are always interested in ways to encourage and endorse local talent, and this was the perfect opportunity to do so.
