I m open for intuitions, said an 11-year-old participant Thursday, during the opening of the second International Mind, Body and Spirit Festival of Sound, Light and Color. Organized by Suzanne Michell-Eagan, founder of Spirit of the Middle East, the festival theme revolves around sound and light and their effect on the human body. The primary aim of the festival, Michell-Egan said, is to create an atmosphere of unity and joy, offering a chance for everyone to experience new alternative therapies presented through a total of 50 inspirational talks and workshops on yoga, pilates, interactive healing, dance, movement and a journey into sound. Though such holistic healing tools are known to belong to the Far East, Michell-Egan argues that they have an origin in the holy Quran as well as the Pharaonic heritage. The event was first organized in September 2007 under the title: Mind, Body and Spirit Festival of Giving. Several Egyptian and foreign vendors are selling holistic products, including crystals, books, ethnic clothes, unique handmade bags and creative jewelry made by local women in a natural environment. The second day of the festival is dedicated to the Spirit of the Youth, featuring several talks, workshops and activities to help them express their inner potential. Saturday will be environment day called Nurture Nature, dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues at the grassroots level. The festival opens its doors at 11 am at the Swiss Club in Kitkat district, Giza.
