Published in Daily News Egypt on 01 - 02 - 2008

From Jan. 24 until 28, Al-Ahram Publishing Organization hosted its annual automotive exhibition at the Cairo International Conference Hall, showcasing a wide variety of international automobile names, along with a look at the latest new models, displayed for the first time in Egypt.
Large crowds of visitors flocked to the exhibition as soon as it opened its doors in the early morning.
Displays of Skoda, Cherokee, Mercedes and Land Rover models were the most popular attractions this year.
Suzuki 2008 and Hyundai i30 were among the new models displayed exclusively at the exhibition.
The new Suzuki is sold with a down payment of LE 10,000 but the market price of the car is yet to be announced. The new model, sold in United States for $2,500, features a sporty look and has received the American Safety Standards Certificate.
The other exclusive debut was Hyundai i30.
Mostafa Abdel Halim, the president of Hyundai cars in Egypt, said in the press conference that the new car has seen huge success in the European market thanks to its new design and utilization of new technology.
With a 1600 cc motor and foldable back seats, the car is available in different categories. Prices vary according to the options offered; from LE 102,000 to LE 129,000.
The new Opel Vectra also premiered at the exhibition, with a price tag of LE 175,000.
Dogus Auto Misr presented its new family car from Volkes Wagon: Caddy Life, a car designed to accommodate up to nine passengers.
Safety measures are among the top features of the new Caddy Life, which in addition to four air bags also features new break technology.
The exhibition was attended by the Chairman of Al-Ahram organization Morsi Attallah and Hassan Hamdy, the manager of Al-Ahram Advertisements.
Although these options mean more traffic, at least the cars will look good on the road.
