Jordan's opposition Islamic Action Front (IAF) on Thursday called for ousting Israel's Ambassador to Jordan Daniel Nevo from the country in response to Israeli plans to procure disputed historical sites in the West Bank onto its cultural heritage list. The Israeli government has parked the ire of the Arab and Palestinian communities over their attempts to include Palestinian territory on the UNESCO world heritage list. Jordan's (IAF) – Muslim Brotherhood wing – stressed in a statement on its website that “we hope that the government would start taking actions in this regard, including the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador.” On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved an Israeli government announcement, which considers Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem and the Cave of the Patriarchs (Sanctuary of Abraham) in Hebron as Jewish sites. The IAF underscored that the silence over these Israeli procedures would persuade Israel to advance with its plans to “make Jewish” the Al-Aqsa Mosque, calling on the Arabs and the Muslims to take actions to face the “conceitedness” of Israel and its plans. Jordan and Israel inked a peace treaty in 1994. The only other Arab nation to have diplomatic relations with the Jewish State is Israel. BM
