CAIRO: Egypt's general prosecutor has referred activist Ahmed Douma and 10 others to criminal court on charges of inciting violence near the Muslim Brotherhood's guidance office in clashes that happened earlier this year. Hundreds were gathered in front of the headquarters in protest against the Muslim Brotherhood regime last March when clashes erupted, leaving about 200 people injured. The accused activists include Alaa Abdel Fattah, Nawara Negm, Hazem Abdel Azeem and Kareem al-Shaer. Douma was sentenced to six months in prison on Monday for insulting the president, but the court granted him the option of paying 5,000 Egyptian pounds to be released. BN
