Egypt's ElBaradei calls for protests on revolution anniversary
Published in Bikya Masr on 25 - 01 - 2013

CAIRO: Nobel Laureate and opposition figure Mohamed ElBaradei has called on all Egyptians to take to the streets on Friday, which marks the second anniversary of the January 25 revolution, to press for their demands.
ElBaradei told the people in a YouTube statement that they must participate to prove that the revolution is ongoing and that the revolutionary forces will not stop until their demands are met.
The former director of the International Atomic Energy Agency said that the revolts will continue until every patient is cured, every hungry man is fed, every child has access to education and the Egyptian people in general are on the road for transparency and credibility.
The Dostour Party, founded by ElBaradei, had earlier held the Muslim Brotherhood accountable for hindering the progress of the goals of the January 25 uprising that ousted President Hosni Mubarak two years ago.
“Two years after the uprising, not one demand has been met,” the Dostour statement said, blaming the setbacks on the Brotherhood for attempting to extend their grip on all state institutions.
The Dostour Party is part of the National Salvation Front – Egypt's main opposition coalition – which led the unsuccessful anti-campaign against a constitution written by an Islamist-dominated assembly.
The constitution passed last month with 63 percent of the vote despite the anti-campaign and outrage from different factions who believe the text marginalizes minorities.
