JAKARTA: Police reported that 7 armed high school students have been arrested in Jakarta on Monday night, after they were caught hijacking three minibuses in the city. Police told Bikyanews.com that they believe this is the same group of students who had been seen doing other illegal activities while being armed. Police said that the 7, part of a 100-strong mob of students, were carrying steel bars, a sword, a saw, a bayonet, bicycle chain rings and two golf clubs. Police believe the group, all students from vocational school STM Triguna Utama, were planning to attack another school in Ulujami, South Jakarta, when they hijacked the minibuses traveling between Blok M and Ciledug at 7.30pm. “When seeing [the] suspicious situation, a police officer stopped the bus," Adj Sr Comr Hindarsono, head of the traffic division at South Jakarta Police, told the Jakarta Globe. “The students jumped out off the bus and ran. The officer arrested seven [in total]." Hindarsono said that police confiscated the students' weapons and that the seven were being detained for questioning. He added that the incident is being investigated and police are pursuing more suspects. Bikyanews.com
