CAIRO: Egypt's Ministry of Health announced that the number of injuries in recent scuffles has reached 444 people and one death in Cairo and another in Damanhour. A third protester was reported to have died late Monday night after succumbing to injuries sustained the day before. Clashes erupted on Monday evening following a demonstration to commemorate last November's “Mohamed Mahmoud events” where over 40 people were killed. The police-civilian violence escalated on Friday following demonstrations held against President Mohamed Morsi's constitutional decree announced on Thursday. The decree, which expanded the president's powers, was met with outrage from his opposition and wide support from his supporters. Liberal forces have called for mass protests on Tuesday in Tahrir Square to express outrage against the decree while Mursi's supporters also called for demonstrations to express their approval.
