CAIRO: Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayipp Erdogan is to be in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Saturday for a meeting with Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to discuss the Israeli attacks on Gaza that have left 25 dead and hundreds injured. Erdogan said in a press conference on Friday that Turkey is on the side of the Palestinian people in the face of Israel's aggression. “We will have a joint press conference tomorrow in Cairo to discus the situation and declare our stands,” he was quoted by the Egyptian state-owned news agency MENA on Friday. The Turkish PM added that he will discus the attacks with American President Barak Obama on Friday evening in an effort to put an end to the attacks. Obama has already said he will support Israel and has blamed Hamas in Gaza for the bloodshed. The Turkish Prime Minister has garnered much respect across the Arab world, following his removal of the Israeli ambassador after the Israeli military attacked a peace mission Gaza Flotilla two years ago that left activists dead, many of whom were from Turkey. Last year, Erdogan toured the Arab Spring countries as part of his government's push to have a greater role in Middle East politics.
