RAMALLAH: On Thursday evening 8 female Palestinian protesters were arrested by Israeli military forces after they entered a military base at Bet El settlement near Ramallah in occupied West Bank, reports Raya FM. The women approached the settlement with Palestinian flags and used a ladder to scale the wall. Once on top, they waved their flags and voiced their opposition to Israel's ongoing offensive against the Gaza Strip. Bet El is home to over 5,000 Israeli settlers. There are over 500,000 settlers in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, the presence of whom is considered illegal under international law. On Wednesday evening Israel launched the first strike after a ceasefire, executing a targeted assassination of Hamas military chief Ahmad Jabari. Since Jabari's assassination, over 250 spots across Gaza have been hit by Israeli airstrikes, while Gazan militants have fired over 300 rockets into Israel, including recent strikes on Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The women were released later the same evening and have been ordered to pay a fine to Israeli military forces, reports Raya FM.
