TOKYO: Peru's government reported it has received a $100 million loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to finance Energy Infrastructure Renewal Program, Peru's Prime Minister, Juan Jimenez said. He said that this program will diversify the energy matrix in several areas and shift it toward renewable energies and promote bio-businesses. The JICA loan will also finance the development of projects related to energy efficiency and renewable energy, Jimenez noted. This program, which is an important step for the country's technological innovation, will be led by the Development Finance Corporation (Cofide). It is part of Peru's efforts to push alternative energy and enable it to relinquish much of its support on the oil and gas industry.
