KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia government on Friday praised Nigeria and gave it “its highest appreciation and thanks to the Nigerian authorities and others for their efforts in securing the safe release of a Malaysian kidnapped in Nigeria on August 4.” Wisma Putra, in a statement, thanked Sea Trucks Group, employer of kidnapped George Lipih Ambo, 42, the Malaysian High Commission in Abuja, Umno Youth Public Complaints Bureau as well as others for being instrumental in the release of the man. “George Lipih's family members have been informed of the release by his employer, the Sea Trucks Group. He will be flown back to Malaysia after he completes his medical check-up,” it said. Ambo had been kidnapped, along with his colleagues from Indonesia, Iran and Thailand during a deadly attack on two vessels in the Gulf of Guinea on August 4. All those taken in the attack have been released. Upon their release, all four men were taken to a hospital in Port Harcourt, Lagos, for a medical check-up, before they are expected to return home, the Bernama news agency reported.
