ADDIS ABABA: The death of Ethiopia's Prime Minister Meles Zenawi is “no worry” for the country's future, said Communications Minister Bereket Simon on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after the PM was announced dead. Simon told Voice of America that the future of Ethiopia is bright and that the country and the government is as “strong as ever.” He dismissed concerns brewing that there would be a power vacuum after the country's leader of two decades passed away from an unknown illness. “The policies, the strategies, that have enabled us to register massive growth are in place,” he said. “The party is strong as ever, government is as strong as ever, the leadership is as united as ever. So there is no worry. There is no worry at all.” He added that caretaker Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn would be sworn in and serve the remaining three years of Meles' five-year term. Meles reportedly died near midnight on Monday from an infection while being treated abroad, the country's state-run television reported.
