International music superstar Lady Gaga has come under attack from the world's largest animal rights organization the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) over her alleged wearing of a fur coat while in Bulgaria. PETA said in an open letter that the American pop star sported a large Armani fur coat while in the Balkan country. PETA's Vice-President Dan Mathews issued the letter after Gaga apparently let her anti-fur stance take a back seat in wearing the jacket. “Many of your fans, I among them, have long admired what you told (talk show host) Ellen (DeGeneres): ‘I hate fur and I don't wear fur' …” he wrote. “What happened? Are your stylists telling you that it's fake, or are you a turncoat?” he added. Every year, about 50 million animals are cruelly killed for their fur. In order to make just one fur coat, dozens of animals are slaughtered and skinned, which has shown the horrors of the fashion industry, animal rights activists told Bikyamasr.com. They called for stars to respect the life of an animal by shunning fur clothes.
