Kanye West is in the news again for angering the masses, yet this time he didn't steal the microphone from a singer, but rather the lives of tens of mink for a jacket. The rapper was spotted in New York City wearing an over-sized fur coat and leather pants, much to the anger of the animal rights community. The picture quickly spread online, creating hate buzz from animal welfare supporters and others. Manay have expressed their anger on Twitter, calling the singer different names and adjectives in frustration. However, this is not the first time West has been spotted wearing what appears to be the same coat. Last year at Paris fashion week, the rapper wore a similar, or possibly the same coat, escorted by a model also wearing an over-sized fur coat. 27,790,000 animals are being farmed for their fur every year, according to online factory statistics, including 24,100,000 mink. Mink, fox, raccoon, dog, polecat, coypu, chichilla are some of the species killed for their fur. China is a world leader in using other animals for cheap fur such as cats and rabbits. According to Infurmation website, an organization working to expose the horrors of fur factories around the world, more than one fur-bearing animal dies every second. There are no humane slaughter legislations to protect the animals who are killed via cruel methods such as gassing, neck breaking, clubbing and anal electrocution. BM
