KUALA LUMPUR: Two Nigerian men, arrested in Malaysia on suspicion of drug trafficking on Monday, could face the death penalty if convicted. Police chief ACP Yahaya Ramli said the two suspects, aged between 30 and 32, had attempted to flee the scene after police seized their car keys. “Subang Jaya Narcotics Division received a tip-off from a member of the public at about 8:15 PM and rushed to the place. After inspecting the car, police found two plastic packets in a laptop bag, labeled as ‘crystal' believed to be syabu. “The seizure of 1,971.5 grams of the drugs has an estimated value of RM200,000,” he told a media conference at the Subang Jaya police headquarters. It comes less than one month after another Nigerian man was arrested with an Australian woman in Malaysia on drug charges. They all would face the death penalty if convicted. The death sentence is mandatory in drug crimes in the Southeast Asian country.
