UAE, UNICEF partner to bring good tidings for Ramadan
Published in Bikya Masr on 25 - 07 - 2012

ABU DHABI: In 2011 UAE Exchange and UNICEF brought smiles to the underprivileged children. Again in 2012, UAE Exchange would contribute USD 100,000 to UNICEF during Ramadan, in a campaign, involving its operations in the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.
UAE Exchange and UNICEF announced their renewed association for the cause of underprivileged children. This time, UAE Exchange has involved five countries, in which it has its operations and will donate USD 100,000 to UNICEF for the cause. The contribution will be sourced from remittance transactions sent through UAE Exchange branches in UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain, during the holy month of Ramadan, without levying any extra charge on the customers.
“Every effort is worthwhile to bring that curve of happiness on a child's face. This Ramadan, customers of UAE Exchange have the opportunity to bring more smiles to underprivileged children. When they make a transaction, UAE Exchange contributes to UNICEF on their behalf," said Mr. Y. Sudhir Kumar Shetty, COO – Global Operations, UAE Exchange. “In 2011 too, in the holy month of Ramadan, we had come together with UNICEF for the same cause in our flagship market, that is UAE. The initiative, then, was a humbling and enriching experience. Encouraged by it, we have joined hands again and spread the campaign wider. To bring more smiles to more children, we are now implementing it in five countries from our global network viz., UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahran."
Mr. Promoth Manghat, Vice President – Global Operations, UAE Exchange, said, “In line with our CSR vision, we are glad to partner with UNICEF, again, for the cause of the citizens of tomorrow. For us it is yet another opportunity to give back to the society, especially for the children, who are the future. We are sure this noble initiative, in the holy month of Ramadan, will receive strong support from our loyal customers. We will be happy if we could be instrumental in making some difference to the lives of these children, positively."
“We are delighted to partner with UAE Exchange.", said Ibrahim El-Ziq, UNICEF Representative to the Gulf Area Office. “UNICEF works for the welfare of children, world over, bringing them quality food, healthcare and education. It is a mission that exceeds the capacity of any single organisation and requires high commitment from all those, who share our respect for children's rights. Our past association with UAE Exchange has been fruitful. We are happy that UAE Exchange has decided to give the initiative a wider canvas by involving four more countries in its fold, apart from UAE.", added Mr. Ibrahim El-Ziq.
UAE Exchange is a remittance and foreign exchange brand with operations across 30 countries, built over 30 years. The organization has been instrumental in aiding those affected in natural disasters and other social issues.
UNICEF, with its strong presence in more than 150 countries and territories, is known for its initiatives to bring good health, education and protection to all underprivileged children across the world.
A Memorandum of Understanding announcing this partnership was signed at an event attended by senior officials from UNICEF and UAE Exchange, along with special invitees and the Media.
