CAIRO: By early Friday morning, the blockades had been erected, identification cards were being checked and thousands of Egyptians were beginning to head to Cairo's Tahrir Square for what is being dubbed “Handover Power” Friday. President-elect Mohamed Morsi announced via the Muslim Brotherhood's official website Ikhwan Online, that he would deliver a speech to the country from the iconic square. He said he would first give his Friday prayer at the al-Azhar mosque before heading to the square to greet the expected thousands who are gathering. The Brotherhood announced their participation with other groups in the country for Friday's protest, determined to push the military junta out of its stranglehold on the country. Essam El-Erian, vice-president of the Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), confirmed on Thursday that the Islamist group would participate in Friday's “million-man” protest in Tahrir. The April 6 Youth Movement, the ultra-conservative Salafist al-Nour, Islamist Al-Wast Party, the Revolutionary Socialists have also announced their participation in the demonstration.
