KATHMANDU: Nearly all Nepali journalists are on social media networking websites including Facebook and Twitter, nationwide research conducted by the Center for Media Research-Nepal has shown. According to the survey, “Nepali Journalist and Social Media: 2011,” a majority of Nepali journalists have been using social media as a ritual source of news reporting. The survey report shows that a maximum number of journalists use not only email, Internet, and social media but also micro-blogging and sharing of audio-visual content. According to the report, 30.7 percent journalists consider content found in social media to be reliable. Around 97 percent journalists use Facebook while 40 percent use Twitter to exchange news, views and opinion. The report shows that 99 percent journalists use the search giant Google on a daily basis. Gmail is the most popular email with around 93 percent users.
