SANA'A: Jim Boumelha is supposed to visit Yemen on Saturday to participate in the meeting of the “change leadership” of the Yemeni Journalists Union. Boumelha is also going to meet the President, Mr. Abdo Rabu Mansour Hadi and the Prime Minister, Mohamed Salem Basendwa to discuss general issues related to journalism and speech freedom in Yemen, as well as to deal with the matter of detained journalist Abdul Ilah Haidar Al Shae who is currently being held by the Central Security Forces after the US demanded he remained behind bars for alleged links with al-Qaeda. It is important to note that none of the claims were ever substantiated by physical evidence. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) coordinator in the Middle East, Muneer Za'aror and Ova Westerberg of the Danish Union of journalists will also attend the meeting of the Yemeni Journalists Union. At the occasion of the meeting five martyr journalists will be honored: Jamal Shara'abi, Hassan Al Wazaf, Abdul Majeed ElSamawi, Abdul Hakeem Al Noor and Faud Al Shameeri, all the fallen victims of violence against the press.
