After being held incommunicado for nearly four weeks, reporter Abdul Ilah Haydar Shae and cartoonist Kamal Sharaf were transferred on 12 September to Sanaa's political security prison, which is controlled by the intelligence agencies. According to their lawyer, Abdelrahman Barman, they are being held in extremely harsh conditions, their medical condition is critical, and their families have still not been able to see them. Reporters Without Borders calls for their immediate release. Shae and Sharaf were abducted by police in Sanaa on 16 and 17 August respectively, amid an increasing tendency on the part of the authorities to use violence against journalists. RSF
