Egypt: ElBaradei calls for new Constituent Assembly

CAIRO: Former Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the former presidential hopeful and reformist leader, Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, said on Wednesday, on his Twitter account that the first step for democracy in Egypt is the formation of a new Constituent Assembly of experts representing all the various movements and political forces for a constitution that reflects consensus amongst all segements of the society.
ElBaradei confirmed that the Constitution is the guarantor of the freedoms and rights of Egyptians, and is the foundation of any democratic system, pointing out that the Constitution, is a vision and ideology not merely “a fast meal.”
