CAIRO: Israel shot a tear gas canister and hit an 8-year-old boy directly in the face on Friday during the latest crackdown against nonviolent protesters by the Israeli Defense Forces. The 8-year-old boy was shot in Nabi Saleh, a regular site for nonviolent action. Palestinians on Friday commemorated Land Day and the Global March to Jerusalem, through holding protests in several locations, including Qalandiya, Bethlehem, Old City of Jerusalem, and Gaza in addition to the regular weekly demos in six villages. More over Palestinians held demonstrations in Israel. In response to the demonstrations, the Israeli army used excessive force by using different kinds of ammunition including stun grenades, tear gas canisters, live, rubber and marble bullets, skunk water and the “screamer.” One Palestinian, Mahmoud Zaqout, (21), was killed by a live bullet during the ‘Demonstration of Hundreds' near Erez checkpoint. 34 Palestinians in total were arrested in different locations including 10 Palestinian arrested this morning at the entrance of Nabi Saleh ahead of the rally. 17 Palestinians from Silwan that include Hatem Abd Elqader, Fatah's head of the Jerusalem Portfolio, were arrested in Jerusalem. In Bethlehem, another protestor was hit in the head by a tear gas canister. In addition, tens of injuries from rubber bullets were reported, in particular in Qalandiya and East Jerusalem, eight injuries from tear gas canisters also reported in Kafr Qaddoum village and tens of suffocation cases from tear gas inhalation. In Gaza, tens of protestors managed to reach within close proximity to the wall near Erez checkpoint. 37 injuries were reported from tear gas, live bullets and shrapnel.
