GOA: India's western resort state of Goa's top medical facility, which treats several thousand patients every single day has been caught on the wrong foot for allowing child labor on its premises. Sameera Kazi, who heads the state commission for protection of child rights in the Western Indian state, has said that a raid led by the Commission's member on Thursday could prima facie establish that the hospital could have been the end destination of a child trafficking scam. “Prima facie it appears that the children were trafficked to work in the hospital's canteen from the neighboring states,” Kazi told Bikyamasr.com. Kazi said that an 11-year old boy was rescued, while he was working the hospital's canteen by the Commission which conducted the raid along with police officials and members of non government organizations specializing in child welfare. “Just as we entered three other boys were whisked away by unknown persons. It was shocking how they were taken away just as we stepped into the canteen. As if they were alerted about the raid,” Kazi said, adding that she had asked the police to probe the case for child trafficking, apart from slapping the other regulation violations. A similar raid in 2010 at the same hospital had resulted in the rescue of six minor children from another canteen on the state-run hospital premises.
