CAIRO: Fifteen Egypt political groups and movements including the most prominent leftist and liberal political parties the Free Egyptians, the Democratic Front and al-Tagammu announced on Monday the formation of “Constitution for All Egyptians Front,” which aims to “defend Egyptians right to draft a national constitution that ensures them their them their basic rights to freedom, dignity and social equality and also guarantees the representation of all the spectra and forces of the society and consensus over its drafting.” The Front called, in the statement, on the entire revolutionary and the political forces to join them in their struggle for the “protection of the civil Egyptian state through a constitution drafted through the people and ensures the balance between the three branches of the executive, legislative and judicial authorities.” The Front also demanded that all public figures that have been selected in the Constituent Assembly to draft the constitution to withdraw from it and “reject the monopoly of the Islamists over the Assembly.” The newly formed “Constitution for all Egyptians front,” called on people to rally before the State Council on Tuesday to support the plaintiffs in the case of nullifying the parliamentary decision of the Joint Committee of the People's Assembly and Shura Council to form the Constituent Assembly to draft the new constitution. The statement was signed by the members of the front, including the Front for Egyptian Innovation; the Egyptian Communist Party; the Popular Socialist Alliance Party; the Youth Coalition Association; the National Center for Popular Committees; the Egyptian Socialist Party; the National Coalition for Fighting Corruption; Egyptian Women with the Revolution; the Union of Independent Labor Syndicates; the Union of Egyptian Farmers; and the Renaissance Current for Culture and Media.
