CAIRO: The Coalition of the Rebels of , which formed recently with a large number of police union members, expressed in a statement on Tuesday their solidarity with police officers Mohammed Nabil, Mohammed Amr and Ashraf Yehia Mohammed al-Banna and denounced the decision of the ministry of interior to refer the two officers to a disciplinary trial for launching the union, which was “attended by a large number of figures within society, led by presidential candidate Mansour Hassan.” Amer al–Wakeel, the media spokesman of the Coalition told the state-run MENA news agency that police apparatus “is a civilian body of order and its employees have the right to establish their own trade union, which shall protect their interests and defend them in the face of the employer, which is the ministry of interior.” He commended the two officers referred to the disciplinary trials, saying that officer Mohamed Nabil Omar, along with 10 others officers, “helped the coalition of the rebels of Egypt to reach a truce during the events of Mohamed Mahmoud street and almost sacrificed their lives to save civilians, officers and soldiers on November 22, which confirms that there are many honorable loyal police officers in Egypt.” The spokesman warned, on behalf of the coalition, along with the rest of the revolutionary and youth movements, that they will take action in support of the officers referred to the trial “unless the ministry revokes the decision and deals with the issue of a trade union for police officers in accordance with the law and national interest of the country after the revolution.” BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/f0ci5 Tags: Egypt, featured, MOI, Police, Union Section: Egypt, Latest News
