DUBAI: Saudi Crown Prince Naif bin Abdel Aziz has undergone medical tests in the United States and their results are “reassuring,” the royal court said in a statement on Wednesday. Naif, 78, had flown to Algeria for a private visit after having scheduled tests in Cleveland, Ohio, the court said in a statement, without giving details. The official Saudi Press Agency quoted Deputy Interior Minister Ahmed bin Abdel Aziz as saying that Naif was in “fine health.” Naif was appointed crown prince last October after the death of his brother, Sultan bin Abdel Aziz. He has been the oil-rich kingdom's interior minister since 1975 and became a second deputy prime minister in 2007. His appointment as heir to the throne has raised concerns, with some pro-reform analysts saying he could halt the reforms slowly introduced by King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz. Worries concerning Abdel Aziz's health have continued to frustrated government sources in Riyadh, who have told Bikyamasr.com that internally, the Kingdom is already looking for a replacement if the health issues do not subside.
