VIENNA (dpa) – Troubled carrier Austrian Airlines (AUA) needs fresh money from its German parent company Lufthansa to survive, the head of Austrian Airline's supervisory board said Tuesday. “AUA no longer has sufficient capital,” Stefan Lauer was quoted as saying by Austrian press agency APA. The flag carrier had no future without Lufthansa's money, he said. The board also said it was preparing to transfer all of Austrian Airline's operations to the carrier's regional subsidiary, Tyrolean, in a bid to lower the pay of pilots and flight attendants by as much as 25 per cent. This announcement came after talks with employees on pay cuts ended without results. Austrian Airlines' managers expect an operating loss of 66 million dollars for 2011, unchanged from the previous year.
