MEXICO CITY (dpa): The Mexican government will take care of the security of Pope Benedict XVI when he visits the country next month, Mexican Interior Minister Alejandro Poire said on Monday. “As is the case in the visits of many other heads of state of other countries, we will have a visit with security,” Poire said. More than 50,000 people have been killed in Mexico over the past five years in incidents linked to organized crime, according to official figures. Pope Benedict XVI is to visit the central Mexican state of Guanajuato March 23-26, in a tour that will also take him to Cuba.
