London (dpa) – A teenager involved in one of the most vicious assaults that accompanied the London riots in the summer of 2011 was Friday sentenced to seven years in jail by a court in the British capital. Beau Isagba, 18, attacked Malaysian student Ashraf Rossli in Barking, east London last August, breaking his jaw in two places and leaving him lying on the pavement, bleeding heavily. The assault preceded a second crime in which items were taken from the victim's rucksack by two men posing as Good Samaritans. The incident, which was caught on CCTV, was later placed on YouTube, prompting widespread condemnation. Rossli, 20, had been in Britain for just a month when he was set upon as a wave of looting and burning swept London and other major cities. Two other men, who pretended to help Rossli only to proceed to steal items from his rucksack, have been convicted of robbery and violent disorder and are to be sentenced next week.
