Manila (dpa) – The Philippines on Monday requested an apology from Friday Night Lights actor Taylor Kitsch for saying he was hassled by immigration at a Philippine airport, when he never visited the country. “We believe that Taylor Kitsch made an erroneous statement which demeaned our country and an apology would be a proper decent response,” presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda told reporters. Kitsch told talk-show host David Letterman last week that a customs officer had ordered him back to Japan when he arrived in the Philippines to shoot a film, because his passport did not have enough pages for them to stamp. But the film he was working on, Oliver Stone's Savages, was shot in Indonesia, and there was no record of him ever applying to enter the Philippines, immigration officials said earlier. The Canadian actor also that the customs officer asked him if he could give him an iPhone.
