CAIRO: Western diplomatic sources have reported a Swiss plane is expected to land in Damascus airport to evacuate the wounded and dead foreign journalists from the city of Homs. The sources told dpa that the plan is intended to bring the journalists home. An American war veteran reporter and a French photojournalist joined the list this week of journalists who have died due to the violent crackdown by Syria President Bashar al-Assad's regime against the uprising that entered its 11 month. The list contains two more journalists who died due to the bombardment on Homs, one New York Times reporter and a French Journalist, who died last year. At least 7,200 people have been killed in the now year-long uprising against Assad, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a London-based rights group, has reported.
