Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts to star as mother, daughter

LOS ANGELES: Leading frontwomen Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts are to star as mother and daughter in an upcoming film, The Hollywood Reporter said on Thursday.
The 62-year-old Streep and the 44-year-old Roberts have reportedly signed on to star in the adaptation of the dark comic Pulitzer and Tony-prize winning play August: Osage County.
Double Oscar winner Streep will play a pill-popping matriarch while Roberts plays her rebellious daughter in the film with shooting set to begin later this year.
Local executives in LA believe it is a winning bill for the actresses and already there is much buzz in Hollywood over the two popular actresses working together.
