CAIRO: With more and more tear gas being fired on Egypt protesters the past four days and counting, images of the canisters have reignited anger towards the United States over their selling of the deadly dispersant to Egypt's military and security forces. In December, Egyptians were enraged to learn that a shipment of some 21 tons of tear gas arrived at its Suez port from the US, worrying many that any clashes to come would have reinforcements of the gas, banned for military use. According to a weapons specialist, much of the tear gas being used in the past four days is from those shipments that arrived late last year. “I have looked at the documents and the evidence on the ground and it appears the security forces are using the gas from those shipments,” the source told Bikyamasr.com. The expert added that it should not be the blame of the United States over the tear gas being purchased, “but rather how it's being used. As we watch, it is becoming very clear that the over abundance of tear gas being shot at protesters is more than just criminal action. The US government should investigate,” the source added. On the ground, empty canisters show manufacturing dates of last summer from Combined Tactical Systems, a defense manufacturer based in Jamestown, Pennsylvania. The shipment arrived in December, and all evidenced gathered by Bikyamasr.com on the ground points to corroborate that the tear gas being fired over the past few days are the same as those recent arrivals to the country.
