CAIRO: Egypt's parliament is set to hold an emergency session on Thursday morning to discuss the clashes that erupted following a football match between al-Ahly and al-Masry in Port Said. The violence left at least 73 fans dead an nearly 200 injured, according to the latest numbers issued by the ministry of health on Wednesday evening. The session was called for by the speaker of the lower house of parliament Saad al-Katatny in response to public anger towards the disappearance of security forces and medical workers for almost two hours after the clashes broke out in the stadium in Port Said. Ahly's official television channel showed a split screen of the clashes beginning and riot police standing in a nearby tunnel not moving. Inside the Ahly locker room, players were injured and fans were being treated as best as possible without medical assistance to be found.
