LAGOS: Senegal's leading telecommunications operator Sonatel announced on Tuesday some 20 new roaming agreements with partners around the world. The announcement has investors and analysts believing Sonatel is making the right moves for a successful 2012. “Postpaid roaming has started with Vodafone Essar in India (Marashtra and Goa) and Free Mobile in France, but stopped with Rwandatel following the latter's loss of its mobile licence,” Sonatel said in a statement on Tuesday. “Prepaid roaming has begun with Orange Tunisia, CV Movel Cap Vert, Vodafone Essar in Gujarat, Mobily in Saudi Arabia, TMN and Optimus in Portugal, M¬obinil Egypt and Orange Luxembourg.” The company, both a landline and mobile operator, hopes the new deals will push it onto the global stage in full force. It said that “GPRS roaming is now available with Sunrise in Switzerland and K Cell in Kazakhstan. Finally, 3G roaming has been launched with Orange Tunisia, San Marino Telecom, Orange Uganda, Free Mobile, K Cell and Orange Guinea.” BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/RL3C9 Tags: IT, Senegal, Sonatel, Telecom Section: Tech, West Africa
