Cairo (dpa) – Two car bombs went off late Monday in Shiite neighbourhoods of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, killing at least five people and wounding more than 30 others, the Interior Ministry said. One of the car bombs went off near a police vehicle in the north-east neighborhood of al-Shaab, while the second blew up in the western neighborhood of al-Muwasalat. Earlier in the day, at least one Shiite pilgrim was killed and 10 others wounded in a bombing south of Baghdad, the ministry said. Hundreds of thousands of Shiites are making their way to Karbala's holy Shiite shrine this week. The Arbaeen pilgrimage, as it is known, commemorates the martyrdom of Hussein bin Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Mohamad.
