Hanoi (dpa) – Ten Vietnamese fishermen were missing after their fishing boat was hit by an unidentified cargo ship in the South China Sea, news reports said Monday. The incident occurred January 2 when a Vietnamese trawler with 11 crew members on board was fishing between Vietnam and Thailand, the state-run newspaper Thanh Nien reported. The captain of the fishing boat was rescued by another vessel, reached port Sunday, but the fate of the other 10 on board the trawler was not clear. In another incident, all 15 members of a Vietnamese fishing crew were rescued Sunday by the Liberian-flagged cargo ship Main Trader after their boat was hit and sunk the same day by an unidentified freighter, the Tuoi Tre newspaper said, quoting Nguyen Thanh Luong, the captain of the fishing boat.
