Brisbane, Australia (dpa) – Andy Murray defeated doubles partner Marcos Baghdatis 6-2, 6-2 on Friday to set up a Brisbane International final with Australian hope Bernard Tomic. Top seed Murray finally found some form as his new coach Ivan Lendl landed in Australia, with the Scot untroubled by the demons and poor form which characterized his first two wins of the season. The Scot broke four times in the 65-minute win. “It was better,” said Murray. “I started moving better from the first game of the match and that's a huge part of my game. “When that goes well the rest of my game improves a lot, I can dictate more of points and make it harder for my opponents to get the ball through me. That was the difference today from the first couple of matches.” Murray had lost the opening set in his previous two contests, but raced away to a 4-0 lead against Baghdatis to make sure there was no danger of another slow start. Tomic, seeded eighth, reached his first career ATP semi-final with his defeat of Uzbek Denis Istomin 6-3, 7-6 (7-4). The second semi-final will pit second-seed Gilles Simon of France against Alexandr Dolgopolov, a 2011 Australian Open quarter-finalist, after the each advanced on Thursday. Murray leveled his career mark at 3-3 against 2006 Australian Open finalist Baghdatis, who had yet to drop a set before meeting up with Murray, finalist at the last two Melbourne finals. Tomic on 42nd stands as the top-ranked Australian on the ATP, ahead of Lleyton Hewitt, 186th. In women's semi-finals, Kaia Kanepi was playing Francesca Schiavone while Daniela Hantuchova was taking on Australian open champion Kim Clijsters.
