Baghdad (dpa) – At least 9 people were killed when two bombs exploded in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Thursday, security sources and witnesses said. The bombings also injured more than 50 in the Shiite-majority district of al-Sadr in the eastern part of Baghdad, they added. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. Iraqis are worried that armed groups will escalate their attacks after US troops recently withdrew from the country after nearly nine years of military involvement.
