Kabul (dpa) – Three troops of the NATO-led military alliance were killed by a roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan, the coalition said Wednesday. The attack occurred Tuesday, but the International Security Assistance Force did not release the exact location. It was not clear which country the deceased soldiers were from. Most of the forces fighting the Taliban insurgency in the eastern regions are from the United States. The coalition also said it started to disband or hand over all security programs and irregular forces outside the jurisdiction of the government of Afghanistan. On Tuesday, President Hamid Karzai announced the disbanding of irregular forces established as temporary security for distant villages where the military could not reach. They were financed by the US. Some of the irregular forces, with different names in different provinces, were run by former warlords and accused of extortion and other abuses. “ISAF will work with Ministry of Interior to ensure these groups with association with ISAF are properly transitioned and disbanded,” international coalition commander John Allen.
