Belgrade (dpa) – Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic has donated 100,000 dollars to UNICEF's Serbian chapter, the United Nations agency for children has said. “I hope my donation and support will help make a difference in the lives of young children throughout Serbia, especially those who have fewer opportunities to reach their full potential,” said Djokovic, a UNICEF national ambassador for Serbia since August, according to a statement released late on Wednesday. Djokovic says he wants to help the most vulnerable groups of children – those with disabilities and from the Roma minority – in Serbia, one of the poorer European nations and home to tens of thousands of refugees from the conflicts that destroyed the former Yugoslavia. The Serb stormed to top spot in the world rankings in 2011, winning three of the four Grand Slam tournaments and 10 overall titles. dpa bb npr BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/Gs4rC Tags: Donation, Novak Djokovic, Tennis, UNICEF Section: Sport
