Tawakkul Karman, Yemen's 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner is said to be in attendance at a close meeting with the members of the United Nations Security Council in New York. The young woman has since the very beginning of the Yemeni popular uprising campaigned for the international community to pay attention to Yemen's plight for freedom, urging World leaders to step up against President Ali Abdullah Saleh. Since the UN Security Council passed a resolution against the autocrat urging him to ink a GCC brokered proposal which would signal the end of his rule, Karman has been tirelessly traveling the world seeking support for her campaign against the regime as she wants to see Saleh taken to court for crimes against humanity. Only a day after the Yemeni president official refusal to sign the power-transfer deal and the imminent return of UN envoy to Yemen, Jamal Benomar, Karman is holding talks with the UNSC, which many believed could signal a change in strategy in the Yemeni dossier. In Yemen, many suspect that she is pushing for a freezing of assets. BM
