CAIRO: The Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Council Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has decided to hold the third edition of the FTTH MENA conference in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh on November 30 and December 1 of this year. According to the press release, the Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, Dr Mohamed Salem has granted patronage for the third edition and will most likely deliver the opening speech. The first of such conferences was held in 2009 in Amman, Jordan while the second one was in Beirut last year. The FTTH MENA 2010 conference attracted 300 delegates from around the globe, and Sharm El Sheikh is expected to draw a successful turnout as well. It is expected that the FTTH will showcase some of the latest technologies and solutions in regard to the MENA region. FTTH will highlight the benefits of FTTH deployment for operators, governments and consumers through specific talks on regulatory issues, economic considerations and business cases. The theme of the conference is “FTTH, Leading the new generation” and boasts many key speakers from the MENA region, as well as Europe, North America and Asia. BM
