UAE Minister for Foreign Trade, Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, has been in discussions with Australian Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Kim Carr about ways to boost economic partnership between the two countries. Al Qasimi says the UAE is keen to enhance bilateral relations with Australia. Particularly the UAE would like to increase trade, investment and involvement of the private sector. Over the last 10 years trade exchange between the 2 countries stands at $16 billion, at the growth rate of 230 per cent. The UAE minister said there are investment opportunities in the UAE in all economic fields. Al Qasimi highlighted, in non oil sectors there are many companies that Australia can set up joint strategic investment partnerships with. The UAE is going to great efforts to bolster its non oil sectors amid insecurity regarding the it's reliance on finite source of oil Non oil trade exchange between the UAE and Australia stood at over $2.2 billion in 2010 at the growth rate of 17 percent compared to 2009.
